New CFO Balaji Krishnamurthy has been with Uber for more than six years and is currently vice president of strategic finance and investor relations. Uber has agreed to purchase fleets of robotaxis.

Parent company Alphabet would provide about $13 billion to the robotaxi firm, while the rest would come from others, including new investor Sequoia Capital, Bloomberg reports.

“Together, Mercedes-Benz, Nvidia and Uber will build a global platform that makes autonomous driving available to everyone,” Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang said.

The company reported Jan. 28 that net income last year dropped 46% to $3.8 billion despite the introduction of cheaper models and CEO Elon Musk's promise to remain laser-focused on the company.

Waabi also received an additional $250 million from Uber to launch at least 25,000 robotaxis equipped with its software exclusively on the ride-hailing platform.

Tesla is beginning to offer actual robotaxi rides in Austin, a milestone for the carmaker that launched a service seven months ago with vehicles that have relied on human supervisors.

The San Jose, Calif.-based company could seek $300 million to $400 million, a source told Bloomberg. A listing in the U.S. could take place as soon as the end of this year or early 2027.

Ford said Jan. 7 it will launch Level 3 autonomy in 2028 on its Blue Cruise feature. The new version that allows drivers to look away will debut on Ford’s all-electric small pickup truck platform.
