Pony AI has set a goal of deploying robotaxis with partners in more than 20 cities worldwide this year.

The startup doesn’t currently charge fares, but regulators have opened a public comment period that could pave the way for Zoox to do so.

Uber or its fleet partners will buy 10,000 autonomous Rivian R2 robotaxis and make them available on the Uber app starting in San Francisco and Miami in 2028.

Waymo said in a statement that it was “disappointed” by the governor’s decision. “We’re committed to bringing our service to New York and will work with the state Legislature to advance this issue.”

Uber said it will focus on building the high-capacity charging hubs starting in the San Francisco Bay Area, L.A. and Dallas — markets where it plans to launch public robotaxi services.

Alphabet’s Waymo said it is using DeepMind’s Genie 3 AI model to create realistic, digital worlds for its autonomous driving technology to train on edge-case scenarios.
