The average price of diesel dropped seven-tenths of a cent to $2.387 a gallon, declining for the fifth consecutive week, the Energy Information Administration reported Oct 5.

The nationwide average price of diesel fuel fell by 1 cent, according to the U.S. Energy Information Administration’s report released Sept. 28.

The price of diesel, trucking’s main fuel, dropped 1.8 cents to $2.404 a gallon in its third consecutive decline, the Energy Information Administration reported Sept. 21.

The national average price of diesel dropped 1.3 cents a gallon to $2.422, the Energy Information Administration reported Sept. 14. Diesel costs 56.5 cents a gallon less than it did a year ago after the second straight weekly drop.

The national average price of diesel fell by six-tenths of a cent to $2.435 a gallon, according to the Energy Information Administration. The weekly report was released Sept. 8, a day later than usual because of the Labor Day holiday.

The price of diesel jumped by 1.5 cents nationwide to $2.441 a gallon, the Energy Information Administration reported Aug. 31, as much of the nation’s oil exploration and refining capacity was shut down because of two severe-weather events.

For the second week in a row, the price of diesel remained essentially flat compared with the prior week, dipping just one-tenth of a cent to $2.426 a gallon, the Energy Information Administration reported Aug. 24.

The average price of diesel increased for the first time in four weeks, inching up four-tenths of a cent nationally to $2.428 per gallon on Aug. 10, according to the Energy Information Administration’s weekly report.

Diesel fell for the third consecutive week, by three-tenths of a cent to $2.424 a gallon.
