A pair of Amazon MK30 drones hit a stationary crane on Oct. 1. The FAA and NTSB said they’re investigating the crashes.

Chevron Corp.’s El Segundo refinery in Los Angeles County has extinguished a fire that broke out the night of Oct. 2 and shut multiple units.

The allegations against the world’s most valuable automaker stem from a middle of the night crash in November 2024 on a residential street in the San Francisco suburb of Piedmont.

A pair of Amazon MK30 drones collided with a stationary crane at about 10 a.m. local time Oct. 1, the Federal Aviation Administration said in a statement. No injuries were reported.

The new permits were announced Sept. 29 by the Missouri Department of Transportation as most of the state experienced the third-driest August on record since 1895.

The department’s plan, released Sept. 30, shows that highway and trucking agencies are among the least affected in a lapse of annual appropriations.

Under the latest plan, air traffic controller hiring and field training would also continue — a key difference from the March plan, which would have paused those activities. 

Many federal operations will pause and nonessential employees will be furloughed or fired if lawmakers can’t reach an agreement by the time the current fiscal year ends on Sept. 30.

“The process for issuing these licenses is absolutely 100% broken," Sean Duffy said. "It has become a threat to public safety and it is a national emergency that requires action right now.”
