NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Engine lubricant supplier Valvoline announced that its flagship heavy-duty engine oil has been approved by engine maker Cummins Inc. for extended drain intervals of up to 100,000 miles.

The company said its product sets an industry benchmark by securing manufacturer validation for that length between oil changes.

The extended drain intervals apply to 2021-2026 .

Valvoline made the announcement during a March 15 press conference here at the Technology & Maintenance Council’s 2026 Annual Meeting and Transportation Technology Exhibition.

By increasing drain intervals by up to 25,000 miles, fleet operators can realize improved vehicle uptime and lower total cost of ownership, the company said.

“Longhaul 18-wheelers on the highways need to minimize equipment downtime,” said John Walters, vice president heavy duty at Valvoline Global. “By delivering up to a 25,000-mile oil drain interval extension, minimizing downtime is what Valvoline Premium Blue One Solution Gen 2 is engineered to do.”

Keeping trucks operating for longer intervals between scheduled service events also reduces maintenance costs. Fewer service events translate to lower labor costs and reduced waste oil disposal fees, the company added.

The engine oil can be used across diesel, natural gas and gasoline engines, eliminating the need for fleets to stock multiple oils for different vehicles.

Valvoline first launched Valvoline Premium Blue One Gen 2 in 2020 in partnership with Cummins. Valvoline’s collaboration with the diesel engine manufacturer has spanned more than 30 years.

“As we continue our work with industry leaders like Cummins, Valvoline Global is partnering with its heavy-duty customers to find even greater success by allowing them to operate as efficiently as possible,” Walters said.
