The logistics supply chain had a strong 2017 with a healthy economy revving up demand that led to tight capacity that gave carriers the authority to raise prices with shippers, according to the 29th Annual Council of Supply Chain Management Professionals State of Logistics Report.

The average salary for supply chain professionals in 2017 was $85,210, and nearly all say they are highly satisfied with their jobs, according to a salary survey by APICS, the association for supply chain management.

Shippers are demanding more precise information about the location and status of their shipments, and transportation and logistics providers said they are using multiple load-tracking platforms to collect and share that information.
