Bendix Commercial Vehicle Systems is offering voluntary layoffs, citing a sharp slowdown in the trucking industry and economic pressures from tariffs.

CEO Martin Lundstedt dropped the bombshell in the final moments of the truck and bus maker’s first quarter of 2025 earnings call, revealing an additional 200 or so jobs would be cut.

The truck manufacturer confirmed earlier reports about the layoffs. The decision was made in the face of economic and regulatory uncertainty that has put downward pressure on orders.

The reductions, which correspond to 14% of the brand’s German workforce, won’t affect factory workers. “Audi must become faster, more agile and more efficient,” said CEO Gernot Döllner.
