Pioneer, Anthem, Granite Models Receive Enhancements
Staff Reporter
Key Takeaways:
- Mack launched a Digital Driver Guide that provides chassis-specific vehicle information through web, mobile and future in-cab access.
- The digital rollout aligns with major updates to Mack’s Class 8 lineup including Pioneer, Anthem, Granite and Keystone models.
- Mack also expanded connectivity and safety offerings, including GuardDog Connect integration and wider availability of Mack Protect.
Mack Trucks released a series of digital developments aimed at boosting fleets’ operational efficiency, including for the Pioneer and Anthem Class 8 on-highway models.
The latest product release saw the launch of a virtual owner’s manual supported by a mobile app and on the truck maker’s website and available in English, Spanish and French.
Mack’s Digital Driver Guide offers drivers instant access to complete, chassis-specific vehicle information on features and operations. A driver can enter the last six digits of his or her vehicle’s VIN to generate a guide customized to its specific chassis configuration.
Besides web and mobile access, an in-cab version of the guide will be available via a truck’s infotainment display from late in the third quarter of 2026. Trucks assembled prior to that time will receive the update over the air, Mack said.
Mack unveiled its new flagship on-highway Class 8 model, the Pioneer, in April 2025. The Pioneer is touted as Mack’s most aerodynamic and driver-focused highway truck to date.
The Volvo Group unit then unveiled an overhaul of the Anthem in June, repositioning the semi as a maneuverable regional-haul specialist in the wake of the introduction of the Pioneer. Mack began serial production of the Anthem on Jan. 13.
Less than two months later, Mack pulled back the curtain in March on a revamp of its Class 8 Granite tractor. Production will begin in January 2027 at Mack’s Lehigh Valley Operations manufacturing plant in Macungie, Pa.

The same day as the Granite reveal, Mack unveiled a new Class 8 vocational tractor, the Keystone, in another segment of the lineup overhaul intended to support its parent company’s North American heavy-duty truck market share ambitions.
Volvo Group is aiming for a 25% heavy-duty truck market share by 2030 on the back of the introduction of the Keystone and Pioneer, the Anthem and Granite overhauls, and revamps of sister company Volvo Trucks North America’s VNL and VNR on-highway models.
Supporting the Granite overhaul, on March 17, Mack announced a partnership with Converse, Texas-based Beck Industrial to integrate the Beck Intelligent Mixer and the Granite through the GuardDog Connect system.
As a result of the integration, GuardDog Connect can receive and process operational data from the mixer body, including information related to the drum, chute, hopper, bridge axle, lighting systems, controls and display.
Mack Protect, meanwhile, will now be available for MD Series models, the OEM said March 12. The collision mitigation system initially was introduced for the Pioneer.
Features include forward collision warning, adaptive cruise control with an adjustable time gap, automatic emergency braking, lane departure warning, speed limit sign identification plus right-side lane change and blind spot support. The safety platform includes in-house radar, camera systems and detection algorithms.
