Truck makers are zeroing in on adding 360-degree exterior camera systems as a safety feature ahead of the peak construction season in North America.

Mack Trucks on March 2 unveiled a new Class 8 vocational tractor, the Keystone, in the latest phase of a lineup overhaul.

Mack’s overhaul of its vocational portfolio also saw the debut at Las Vegas Motor Speedway of the Keystone Class 8 tractor, which will replace the Pinnacle model by the end of 2026.

Yet the truck manufacturer is increasingly optimistic about the prospects for demand growth as 2026 progresses, lifting its full-year industrywide sales expectations by 15,000 trucks or 6%.

During Allentown’s State of the City address, Mack announced the additions to the facility, which also includes areas where customers can inspect their new truck and drive it on a test track. 

Guillaume Giroudon will become general manager of Mack Trucks’ Lehigh Valley Operations manufacturing plant in Macungie, Pa., the Volvo Group division said.

Mack Trucks began serial production of the Anthem regional-haul tractor Jan. 13, the Volvo Group division said. Anthems are built at the Lehigh Valley Operations plant in Macungie, Pa.

The tractor was unveiled as the brand’s new flagship on-highway tractor in April in Brooklyn, N.Y., near where the company was founded 125 years earlier by Jack and Gus Mack.

Monthly orders data has trended below prior-year results since the start of the year. President Trump’s focus on tariffs has created uncertainty for both OEMs and truck buyers.

Both Daimler and Traton operate assembly sites in Mexico that may be affected by the levies.
