The national average price for diesel slipped 3.5 cents to $4.247 a gallon, according to Energy Information Administration data released March 13.
Highlights
- Diesel’s national average price has fallen for the past six weeks, totaling 37.5 cents, and for seven of the 10 reporting periods in 2023.
- A gallon of diesel now costs $1 less on average than it did at this time a year ago.
- Of the 10 regions in EIA’s weekly survey, diesel’s price went down in eight and up in two. The biggest drop was 6.7 cents in the Rocky Mountain area. The West Coast less California and the West Coast showed modest increases of 1 cent and three-tenths of a cent, respectively.
