British Truckers Granted Three More Vehicle Tons

LONDON 鈥 British truckers won the right to add three tons of capacity to their rigs on Feb. 1 as the central government increased the maximum weight for six-axle tractor-trailers to just over 97,000 pounds.

Calif. Truckers Get Some Relief From Public Utilities Commission

Driver Pay Rose 15%

The typical truck driver earned an average of $40,883 in salary in 2000 鈥 up more than $5,400, or 15.3%, from three years ago 鈥 according to a study released last week by American Trucking Associations. In addition to salary, the typical driver was also eligible for three bonuses and a menu of fringe benefits.
