Eventually the goal is to use Nvidia’s more advanced DRIVE AV platform, which includes a sensor suite of cameras, radar and lidar, to develop Level 4 autonomous vehicle capabilities.

As part of the collaboration, Stellantis will be among the first automakers to deliver at least 5,000 Nvidia-powered robotaxis for Uber’s operations in the U.S. and internationally.

The autonomous trucks will be manufactured at Volvo Trucks North America’s New River Valley production plant in Dublin, Va. The first batch was built there in the final quarter of 2024.

For the past 18 months, Tesla said manufacturing would start by the end of 2025 and ramp up to capacity through 2026. The firm has a history of missing deadlines, including with the Semi.
