Amazon.com acquired New York-based startup Fauna Robotics, becoming the latest technology giant to step into the burgeoning consumer humanoid market.

The Seattle-based company said it started testing the express delivery service late last year and expanding it this month.

Amazon is moving up its annual Prime Day sale to June from July, according to sources, shifting the schedule for an event that’s become a big part of the e-commerce economy.

The embrace of technology was clear at Manifest 2026, where speakers and exhibitors presented ways the transportation sector can become smarter and faster by implementing AI and robotics.

The gauge — which contains industry stalwarts such as CSX, FedEx and Old Dominion Freight Line  — has been catapulted higher by strong data and a pivot away from the big tech winners of the last few years. 

Amazon reported fourth-quarter earnings slightly below Wall Street estimates even as sales surged and it reported the fastest growth in its prominent cloud computing business in 13 quarters.

Amazon has said it plans to use generative artificial intelligence to replace corporate workers. It has also been reducing a workforce that swelled during the pandemic.
