Attorneys for YRC Freight Inc. have asked a federal judge to dismiss a U.S. Department of Justice civil lawsuit alleging that the company overcharged the federal government on shipments, stating that the plaintiff has failed to build a sufficient case despite years of investigation.

YRC Worldwide posted fourth-quarter 2018 net income of $21.8 million or 66 cents a share, a significant improvement compared with the year-ago period, when it lost $7.5 million and had a loss per share of 23 cents.

YRC Worldwide Inc., a holding company for less-than-truckload carriers, in its initial look at fourth-quarter results forecast flat operating revenue with operating income possibly coming in more than twice as high as a year earlier.

The chief financial officer of YRC Worldwide Inc., Jamie Pierson, has resigned, effective at the end of the year, to work for an unidentified company near his home in the Dallas area.

YRC Worldwide has opened a new freight terminal in Conley, Georgia, just south of Atlanta, with 60 new employees, the company announced on an Oct. 27 earnings call.
