MOUNT VERNON, Wash. — Paccar has introduced a line of proprietary automated transmissions that the company says completes its integrated powertrain offerings.

U.S. retail sales of Class 8 trucks rose in July, the first year-over-year gain since November 2015, amid reports carriers have begun expanding fleet size to meet rising demand now or to prepare for expected growth in 2018.

Kenworth Truck Co. says a new axle, compressed natural gas engine and air intake will be available by the end of July.

Second-quarter net income declined for truck maker Paccar Inc., even though revenue increased for the Bellevue, Wash.-based parent of Kenworth Trucks and Peterbilt Motors.

Class 8 orders cleared 18,000 in June, a 40% year-over-year gain, according to ACT Research Co.

Paccar Inc. announced that it will introduce a new proprietary front axle for its Kenworth Truck Co. and Peterbilt Motors Co. brands in the third quarter, adding that the axle is designed for construction and vocational applications that support infrastructure investments.

First-quarter sales for Paccar Inc. dipped 1.9% year-over-year, but the company returned to profitability as it did not have a large, one-time charge as it did in early 2016.

Revenue and net income declined at global truck manufacturer Paccar Inc. for the fourth quarter and the year, but the Bellevue, Washington-based corporation did remain profitable in both periods.

Paccar Inc. would pay an extra cash dividend of 60 cents per share on Jan. 6, 2017, to stockholders of record at the close of business on Dec. 16.
