Truckload carrier and logistics provider Landstar System produced broad-based improvement among its services and generated second-quarter increases in net income and revenue, topping the consensus estimate of analysts by 2 cents a share.

Landstar System Inc.’s board of directors has appointed James Gattoni as CEO, succeeding Henry Gerkens, who will continue to serve as executive chairman until May 2015.

Landstar System reported its second-quarter net income rose to $35.9 million, or 80 cents per share, from $30.4 million, or 66 cents, a year ago.
