President Donald Trump wrote in a May 5 tweet that he will dramatically increase tariffs on Chinese imports to 25% from 10%, starting May 10.

ANKARA, Turkey — Turkey on Aug. 15 said it is increasing tariffs on imports of certain U.S. products, including rice, cars, alcohol and coal — escalating a feud with the United States that has helped trigger a currency crisis.

The U.S. confirmed last week that among its top objectives in upcoming negotiations on the North American Free Trade Agreement — which superseded the FTA in 1994 — is the elimination of the Chapter 19 dispute-resolution mechanism that previous Canadian Prime Minister Brian Mulroney went to such lengths to preserve.
