FedEx Corp. has increased its vehicle fuel efficiency by 16.6% from 2005 levels, due in part to the use of all-electric vehicles and hybrid fuel vehicles, the company said Monday.

FedEx Corp. said Tuesday it has completed its acquisition of French express-delivery company Tatex, part of its strategy expand its European business.

FedEx Corp. said its fiscal fourth-quarter earnings, excluding a charge for aircraft retirements, rose to $634 million, helped by a 93% increase in operating income at the FedEx Freight segment.

FedEx Corp. said Tuesday its fourth-quarter profit slipped to $550 million, or $1.73 per share, from $558 million, or $1.75, a year ago.

FedEx Corp. said it has retired 24 jets to reduce capacity in its U.S. Express division, and will take an $84 million, or 26 cents–per-share, charge in its fiscal fourth quarter that ended May 31.

FedEx Express said it is “years ahead of schedule” in its goal of making its fleet 20% more fuel efficient by 2020.

FedEx Corp. will sell the Japanese operations of its Office unit, the retail business formerly known as Kinko’s, to Konica Minolta Holdings, Bloomberg reported.

FedEx Corp. said Thursday it will acquire French express-delivery company Tatex as it pursues European growth through small deals and expansion of existing businesses.
