United Parcel Service Inc. and FedEx Corp. delivered almost all of people’s presents by Christmas Day, with the former company finishing strong after a bruising late November.

FedEx Corp.’s delivery truck is heading in the right direction, but the turbo-charge from Uncle Sam won’t hurt. The $65 billion company reported earnings after the close of trading on Dec. 20, besting analysts’ quarterly estimates and raising its full-year outlook.

FedEx Corp. reported earnings of $2.84 per diluted share for its second fiscal quarter of 2018 ending Nov. 30, compared with the Bloomberg analyst forecast of $2.76 per diluted share. In last year’s fiscal second quarter FedEx reported earnings of $2.59 per diluted share.
