The companies announced that they have signed a nonbinding memorandum of understanding outlining Toyota’s intention to become Cellcentric's third shareholder.

“The probability of increasing pricing slightly or potentially increasing tariff surcharges over the year has increased,” said Eva Scherer, Daimler Truck CFO.

The manufacturer’s defense business, which makes logistics vehicles, is developing positively, CFO Eva Scherer told Bloomberg Television on March 13.

Daimler Truck is now confident about a rebound in North American heavy-duty truck sales in 2026 after the first couple of months of the year unfolded and the volume of data points increased.

Freightliner Cascadias equipped with Torc’s software began testing in Michigan in February, adding to trials already underway on roads in the Dallas-Fort Worth area and in Virginia.

The company’s Gen 6 portfolio comprises the 13-liter DD13, 15-liter DD15 and 16-liter DD16 engines, and will be available for all heavy-duty Freightliner and Western Star trucks.

Mercedes will offload part of its roughly 35% holding in Daimler Truck, CFO Harald Wilhelm said.  Even with extra cash from selling shares, Mercedes is bracing for a difficult year.

Series production of the fuel cell trucks is still targeted for the early 2030s. Until midway through 2025, Daimler Truck expected to begin serial production toward the end of the 2020s.

Weakness in Daimler Truck's key North American market was largely to blame for the decline, with sales slumping 26% to 142,000 vehicles.

The joint venture partners aim to each hold a 25% stake in the JV, with the remaining shares set to be listed on the Tokyo Stock Exchange’s prime market for large corporations.
