The Alberta and Canadian governments reached a deal to reduce methane emissions, setting the stage for a new pipeline to the Pacific coast.

Enbridge hasn’t ruled out helping build a new oil pipeline from Alberta to the British Columbia coast under the right regulatory conditions, the company's CEO said.

The Canadian energy leader pitched increasing natural gas flows to the U.S. to boost LNG exports from the Gulf Coast and meet rising power demand from data centers.

Canada would be the third-largest contributor to the IEA’s program, with the added crude at about 130,000 extra barrels a day if rolled out over six months.

The IEA said the release will largely consist of crude oil, though contributions from Europe will primarily take the form of refined petroleum product.

“The probability of increasing pricing slightly or potentially increasing tariff surcharges over the year has increased,” said Eva Scherer, Daimler Truck CFO.

Changing customer dynamics drove the decision. Toronto-bound freight lanes were growing busier, and the company wanted to minimize empty miles.

The U.S. is demanding changes to the treaty, and the top U.S. trade negotiator has said the president would be willing to pull the U.S. out of the pact if he can’t get the deal he wants.

The economy ministry conducted consultations with 30 sector roundtables, spanning metals, agriculture, construction, carmaking and tourism. It sent more than 500 surveys to companies, chambers and industry groups.

Energy Minister Tim Hodgson gave further details on the package March 3, including C$44 million for upgrades to the Northwest Transmission Line in northern British Columbia.
