Navistar Signs 5-Year Truck-Supply Pact With J.B. Hunt

Navistar Inc. has signed a long-term agreement to supply J.B. Hunt Transport Services with International brand commercial trucks through 2014.

The five-year agreement with J.B. Hunt, which has about 9,000 power units in its fleet, calls for delivery of more than 5,000 trucks, Navistar said Tuesday.

Navistar will deliver International ProStar sleepers and day cabs powered by 2010 Environmental Protection Agency-certified MaxxForce 13 big bore engines using exhaust gas recirculation technology.



Navistar is the only major diesel engine maker offering EGR instead of the selective catalytic reduction, or听SCR,听technology that is being offered by its competitors to meet EPA鈥檚 new standards on reducing nitrogen oxide emissions. (Click here for related story from this week鈥檚 print editiion.)

鈥淛.B. Hunt is continuously evaluating equipment alternatives to ensure we leverage the best solution available for our customers, our drivers and the environment,鈥 said Kirk Thompson, J.B. Hunt鈥檚 chief executive officer.

鈥淭hrough this supplier agreement with Navistar, we will be adding some of the most fuel-efficient and driver-friendly tractors in the industry to our fleet,鈥 he said in a statement.
