The hard-hit manufacturing sector saw signs that its 17-month slump may be soon drawing to a close, an industry report said Wednesday.

An option submitted in August by John Hausladen of the Minnesota Trucking Association makes several negative remarks about biodiesel and the biodiesel industry ("Biodiesel: Some Promise and Some Questions," 8-6, p. 9). While the intent of the Hausladen article was perhaps to raise objective questions about the alternative fuel, many of the points presented have no basis in fact.

The average price of diesel climbed for the second straight week, jumping another 1.5 cents per gallon to $1.169, the Department of Energy said this week. The back-to-back increases follow 13 weeks of falling prices.
