Economy Grew at 4% in Third Quarter

The U.S. economy grew at a 4% annual rate in the third quarter, faster than the government's first estimate, and nearly three times the rate of growth in the previous quarter, the Commerce Department said Tuesday.

FMCSA's Clapp to Leave

WASHINGTON – Joseph M. Clapp, the former Roadway Corp. chairman who last year became the first permanent head of the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration, will retire before January, according to Transportation Secretary Norman Y. Mineta.
