TSA Admits It Won't Meet Deadline for Fingerprinting

SAN ANTONIO — The Transportation Security Administration made official what virtually all sectors of trucking already knew: The agency will not meet its self-imposed deadline to begin conducting fingerprint background checks for drivers certified to haul hazardous materials.

ATA Awaits $42 Million to Expand Highway Watch

SAN ANTONIO — Over the next 12 months, American Trucking Associations wants to expand its Highway Watch program to all 50 states, train 300,000 more drivers and recruit security personnel from 3,000 transportation firms to create an emergency communications network to help public officials respond to terrorist attacks and other emergency situations, association officials said.
