Yellow Freight to Raise Rates 4.9%

Less-than-truckload carrier Yellow Freight System plans to raise rates 4.9% beginning Aug. 1, the Wall Street Journal reported. The increase, which is timed for the peak season from August to November, applies to its general tariff rates.

Roadway Tops Lowered Estimates; 鈥楳ildly Optimistic鈥 on Rest of Year

Roadway Corp. on Tuesday reported net income of $4,023,000, or $0.22 per share for its second quarter ended June 16, which topped lowered expectations but was down nearly 60% from the same quarter in 2000.
