PHOENIX — PeopleNet will launch the next evolution of its fleet-management platform next month, incorporating its latest mobile technology and adding Android-based devices to its product line, the company said here at its annual user conference.

PHOENIX — Paccar Leasing Co., or PacLease, is making onboard vehicle diagnostics available to its lease and rental customers on all new Kenworth and Peterbilt trucks equipped with the Paccar MX-13 engine.

The economy grew more than previously estimated in the second quarter on bigger gains in consumer and business spending that show the U.S. expansion got back on track.

A system to detect potholes and report them  recently was patented by Google, Forbes reported.

The Center for Automated Road Transportation Safety, based in Fort Monmouth, New Jersey, which began operation last month as a nonprofit, said it will focus on the research, development, certification, and commercialization of autonomous collision-avoidance technology for autos, buses, and, especially, trucks.

Several other countries such as Canada and France have been faster to permit commercial drone flights than the United States, a government study found.

A growing number of fleets are installing onboard video cameras in their trucks to monitor driver behavior and improve safety, but another key benefit — liability protection — also is playing a central role in the proliferation of that technology.
