Ford Motor Co. said it will cut thousands of jobs, weed out slow-selling variants and potentially close entire factories in Europe, as the carmakers’s global cost-cutting drive targets a region that has been a drag on earnings for years.

TransCanada Corp. is taking the Canada out of its name. The Calgary, Alberta, firm that was created in 1951 as TransCanada Pipelines Ltd. to bring natural gas to eastern Canada from Alberta, will change its name to TC Energy in the second quarter.
