Cybersecurity firm Proofpoint said hackers are targeting trucking carriers and freight brokers, seeking to infect their computer networks with tools that provide remote access.

The Broker Insights Survey found that two-thirds of brokers cite fraud as their top issue. Double brokering is the most reported threat, with 86% of brokers experiencing this type of fraud.

Brokers make a distinction between co-brokering, done legitimately as a necessity in a fast-paced business environment, and double-brokering, often done by fraudsters.
