Truck component maker Meritor Inc. has named Ivor Evans the company’s chairman and interim CEO, replacing Chip McClure, who is leaving the company.

Most leading suppliers to the trucking industry that reported earnings late last month said profits declined, or turned to losses, in the first three months of 2013.

Dana Holding Corp. said Thursday its first-quarter profit declined from a year ago, on lower demand from the North American commercial vehicle market.

Accuride Corp. reported a first-quarter loss but said that Class 8 vehicle orders and production are showing signs of improvement.

The broker/3PL is filling an unmet need, and that is, they provide simplicity, speed and convenience. It’s not too far-fetched to think that progressive LTL carriers can provide this unmet need, but they first have to understand what the customer wants and how to fulfill it.
