Motive Technologies has been ordered to pay rival Samsara more than $30 million over false advertising claims but was cleared in a patent infringement case.

The new features extend the capabilities of Samsara Coach, a driver coaching experience that uses real-time AI voice agents and customizable avatars to deliver personalized guidance.

With a goal of clearing every street within 24 hours, Syracuse partnered in 2021 with San Francisco-based Samsara to put live GPS tracking and dashcams on city fleet vehicles including snowplows.

While the ruling clears Motive of infringement, Samsara’s separate lawsuit in federal court in Delaware remains active. That case alleges patent violations, fraud and false advertising.
