CK Hutchison's plans to sell its global ports are at an impasse a year after the deal was announced, with hopes pinned on a meeting between Donald Trump and Xi Jinping to yield a breakthrough.

Panamanian President José Raúl Mulino ordered the temporary occupation of two ports run by a unit of CK Hutchison Holdings after a Panama court ruled against the firm’s concession.

“It’s impossible, I can’t negotiate,” Mulino said when asked about returning the canal to U.S. control. “That is done. The canal belongs to Panama.”
