Standard & Poor’s Rating Services has downgraded Navistar International Corp.’s long-term credit rating, voicing “increased skepticism” toward the truck and engine maker’s efforts to rebuild market share, but two other credit rating firms stood pat with their current assessments.

Navistar Inc. received about 5,900 orders for Classes 6-8 trucks in September, the highest monthly number since 2011, it said in an Oct. 8 statement.

Navistar International Corp. said $200 million of senior subordinated convertible notes have been priced to pay a 4.5% interest rate.

Navistar International Corp. reported a loss of $247 million in its fiscal third quarter, or $3.06 per share, and said it has started taking orders for the first selective catalytic reduction engine option for medium-duty trucks and school buses.

Navistar International Corp. plans to cut “a few hundred” jobs by early September in a move to reduce costs.

Navistar Inc. announced Thursday it has launched production of its International TranStar regional-haul Class 8 tractor, the fifth heavy-duty International model to transition to selective catalytic reduction technology since December.

Navistar Inc. said Tuesday it has launched its heavy-duty International WorkStar vocational truck, powered by the company’s 13-liter engine with selective catalytic reduction emissions technology.
