U.S. trade with Canada and Mexico fell in in March from a year ago to $96.1 billion, but three of five transportation modes — trucks, railroads and air — rose year-over-year, the Department of Transportation reported.

U.S. trade with Canada and Mexico declined in February to the lowest level for the month since 2011 but freight carried by trucks increased, the Bureau of Transportation Statistics reported April 22.

U.S. trade with Canada and Mexico in January declined 1.2% to $89.2 billion from 2014, but freight carried by trucks increased 3.6% to $55.6 billion, the Bureau of Transportation Statistics reported March 31.

Trucks carried the largest amount of trade among North American Free Trade Partners last year, with trucking trade rising 4.5% from 2013 to $715 billion, the Department of Transportation reported.

U.S. trade with Canada and Mexico in December increased to $95.8 billion, up 5.4% from 2013, and trucks carried about three-fifths of the freight, the Bureau of Transportation Statistics reported Feb. 26.

U.S. trade with Canada and Mexico totaled $96.3 billion in November as two transportation modes — truck and pipeline — carried more freight than in November 2013, the Department of Transportation reported Jan. 29.
