Lytx, the maker of the DriveCam video system for commercial truck fleets, posted a 30% increase in the number of vehicles using its technology in 2018 as more companies adopt in-cab cameras to reduce risk.

SAN DIEGO — Video telematics and analytics provider Lytx is rolling out a customizable platform that lets users select and shift between features on its video-based safety data and fleet tracking services, just as the company is surpassing a milestone for driving miles analyzed, it said.

Mack Trucks grew its relationship with video telematics firm Lytx Inc., offering a pre-wire option of its DriveCam and Video Services technology to buyers of Mack Granite Class 8 vehicles.

Video telematics provider Lytx reported it signed a number of major clients last year, including Walmart Inc. and U.S. Xpress Enterprises, an indication of the growing acceptance by fleets of installing cameras on their trucks as a way to reduce accidents, increase road safety and track driver behavior.

SmartDrive Systems has ramped up the battle for market share in the growing video safety and transportation intelligence arena, introducing a new driver-assist sensor product addressing distracted driving. The San Diego tech firm also garnered an investment from Michelin North America.
