The weekly average intermodal rail volume for October rose to the highest level on record, the Association of American Railroads reported.

Total intermodal rail traffic grew 4.7% to 4 million containers in the third quarter, according to the Intermodal Association of North America.

Intermodal rail volume for the week ended Oct. 19 rose 4.3% from the same period last year, the 16th consecutive rise, the Association of American Railroads reported.
