North American Class 8 truck orders jumped in December compared with the same month a year earlier, according to ACT Research, for the first such increase since May.

North American Class 8 truck orders in November continued to trend below year-ago levels, according to ACT Research.

Preliminary data showed orders declined 5.2% to 30,600 units, marking the fifth month in 2024 where orders fell on an annual basis.

U.S. trailer orders declined year over year for the fourth consecutive month in August, ACT Research reported. However, the total increased by about 500 units from July.  

North American Class 8 truck orders continued to trend below the year-ago period in August, according to ACT Research. Preliminary data showed orders fell 16% to 16,400 units, but were up from July. 

ACT preliminary data showed orders fell 13% to 13,400 units. They also experienced a drop of 8% from the previous month.

North American Class 8 truck orders ended three months of year-over-year gains in June, according to ACT Research. Preliminary data showed orders fell 12% to 14,800 units.

North American Class 8 truck orders continued the trend of year-over-year gains in May, according to ACT Research.

March is the only month that hasn't shown a year-over-year increase in Class 8 truck orders.
