Working together with major truck makers and industry suppliers, self-driving truck companies are preparing factories for mass production of driverless trucks.

Aurora Innovation is about to triple its driverless truck network, expanding to 10 routes, after validating operations between Fort Worth, Texas, and Phoenix, the company said Feb. 11.

The collaboration between McLeod and Aurora, first announced Aug. 28, enables trucking businesses to book and manage autonomous truck capacity using their existing McLeod TMS.

The autonomous trucks will be manufactured at Volvo Trucks North America’s New River Valley production plant in Dublin, Va. The first batch was built there in the final quarter of 2024.

The 40-year-old trucking software developer showcased its own investments in AI along with its partnerships with a growing number of third-party AI technology vendors.

This Aurora-McLeod software integration will make it easier for mutual customers to adopt autonomous trucks and pave the way for broader industry deployment of this emerging technology.

The Pittsburgh-based automated driving developer during the quarter launched commercial driverless operations, added a terminal in Phoenix and began initial nighttime operations.
