ZM Trucks to Launch US Production in California in 2025
Plant Set to Produce 100,000 Zero-Emission Commercial Vehicles Annually
will open a manufacturing plant and regional headquarters in Fontana, Calif., marking its first U.S. production facility.
The company, a subsidiary of , plans to manufacture zero-emission commercial vehicles at the new 210,000-square-foot plant. It is expected to produce up to 100,000 units annually, and production is set to begin in the first half of 2025.
The facility will assemble electric commercial trucks, terminal tractors and airport ground service equipment under the ZM Trucks brand. The site also will serve as the company’s regional headquarters as it expands into the North American market.
“Our new Fontana facility reflects ZO Motors’ commitment to the U.S. market and sustainable innovation,” said Joost de Vries, CEO of ZO Motors. “This expansion allows us to deliver zero-emission solutions that lower total cost of ownership and drive long-term value for our customers.”
ZM Trucks’ expansion into the U.S. is part of ZO Motors’ broader global strategy. The company already operates a manufacturing plant in Cambodia that supplies the Asia-Pacific market. In addition to its entry into North America, ZM Trucks is expanding into South America and the Middle East.

The Fontana facility is expected to create new jobs in the region as the company increases its production capacity. ZM Trucks has positioned itself as a manufacturer of new-energy commercial vehicles, offering powertrain options including battery-electric, hydrogen fuel cell and future hydrogen internal combustion engines.
