Westport Acquires Clean Energy’s Light-Duty Nat-Gas Vehicle Business

Westport Innovations said Friday it has acquired Clean Energy Fuels Corp.’s light-duty natural-gas vehicle subsidiary, BAF Technologies, for $25 million in Westport stock.

BAF provides vehicle conversions through Ford Motor Co.’s qualified vehicle modifier program. As part of the deal, Westport also acquired BAF subsidiary ServoTech an engineering firm offering design and prototype services.

According to Westport, with the acquisition itÌýhas the largest light-duty natural gas-vehicle market presence and product portfolio in the United States.



Westport said it isÌýFord’s largest partner in the qualified vehicle modifier program with more than 10 products. Westport’s product range with FordÌýincludes, transit, cargo, shuttle and taxi vehicles.

The company also announced a $5 million marketing and sales program with Clean Energy aimed at increasing the natural gas-vehicle market.
