Werner Enterprises said its second-quarter profit declined from a year ago on a soft freight environment in April and lower miles per truck.

Net income was $25.8 million, or 35 cents per share, compared with $30.7 million, or 42 cents, a year ago. Revenue slipped 3% to $506.7 million.

Werner ended the quarter with 7,150 trucks in its truckload segment, an increase of 60 trucks from the previous quarter.
