UTi Worldwide Reports Higher Earnings

Air and ocean freight forwarder UTi Worldwide said its net income for its 2009 fiscal second quarter ended July 31 rose 33.7 million, or 33 cents a share, from $27.7 million, or 28 cents a year ago.

The results included a gain of $5.3 million from the sale of its art-packing business, the company said. Revenue rose 20% to $1.26 billion, the company said.

The company’s UTi Integrated Logistics division is ranked No. 24 on the Transport Topics Logistics 50 listing of U.S. and Canadian logistics companies.
