Universal Truckload’s Earnings Decline in 3Q

Universal Truckload Services Inc.’s third-quarter earnings slipped to $13.1 million, or 44 cents per share, from $13.7 million, or 46 cents, a year ago.

The asset-light provider of transportation services said its revenue climbed 15.5% to $302.1 million in the quarter ended Sept. 27.

Operating income climbed 23.7% to $10.2 million in the company’s transportation segment, but decreased 9.1% to $14 million in the logistics segment.

Universal Truckload, based in Warren, Michigan, ranks No. 28 on the Transport Topics Top 100 list of the largest U.S. and Canadian for-hire carriers.
