Union Pacific Reports Record 3Q Revenue
Union Pacific Corp. said Thursday its third-quarter earnings jumped 27% to $532 million or $2 a share, from $420 million or $1.54 a year ago.
The freight railroad’s operating revenue set an all-time quarterly record, growing 5% to $4.2 billion, UP said in a statement.
Its chemicals, energy and intermodal units all posted record revenue in the quarter, UP said. Intermodal revenue rose 3% for the quarter, UP said.
Union Pacific, which operates west of the Mississippi River, is the nation’s largest railroad by revenue.
