he Truckload Carriers Association was still pursuing its search last week for a new president, even as TCA officials said they expected to host more than 1,200 carrier executives, spouses and supplier representatives at their annual meeting March 14-17 in Hawaii.

鈥淭he group, which represents about 450 carriers from the industry鈥檚 truckload sector 鈥 including most of those listed in the Transport Topics 100 breakdown of the largest trucking firms 鈥 said its members would hear comments from Annette Sandberg, administrator of the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration.

She was scheduled to speak March 15 on new driver hours-of-service rules, driver background security checks, highway funding and a recent report from the Department of Transportation鈥檚 inspector general that was critical of the agency鈥檚 SafeStat safety database.

The search for a new president to head the association appeared to be 鈥渂ack to square one,鈥 Nancy O鈥橪iddy, TCA鈥檚 director of public affairs, told Transport Topics March 3.
