Tariffs Prompt Move That Will Affect Employees at US Powertrain and Stamping Facilities
Stellantis NV is temporarily halting work at factories in Canada and Mexico as U.S. tariffs begin to impact operations across the automotive industry.
The owner of Jeep and Ram brands will pause its Windsor, Ontario, plant for two weeks beginning April 7, the company said April 3.
It wasn鈥檛 immediately clear how long the Mexico operations would be affected.
鈥淲ith the new automotive sector tariffs now in effect, it will take our collective resilience and discipline to push through this challenging time,鈥 Antonio Filosa, chief operating officer for the Americas, said in a memo to employees.

The move will affect employees at 鈥渟everal鈥 of the company鈥檚 U.S. powertrain and stamping facilities that support the Canada and Mexico operations, he said.
The production changes are some of the first concrete effects from President Donald Trump鈥檚 decision to impose 25% tariffs on auto imports, which went into effect April 3. The levies, part of a broader trade war, are expected to upend supply chains and add thousands of dollars in costs to most vehicle models.
Stellantis鈥 U.S. shares fell 2.2% before markets opened in New York.
