Starbucks Corp. is opening a new corporate office in Nashville, Tenn., to support its growth ambitions in the South and Northeast U.S.

The coffee chain expects the location will open later this year, which will become an office for sourcing operation teams, according to an internal memo viewed by Bloomberg News. The Wall Street Journal earlier reported the news.

Starbucks laid out a plan to beef up its North American supply chain during its investor day presentation in January as it moves into the next phase of CEO Brian Niccol’s turnaround plan. That investment will help support an expanded set of food offerings through more regular, daily deliveries to stores.

At the event, Starbucks said it sees an opportunity to add 5,000 locations across central, south and northeast regions of the U.S. By fiscal 2028, the company expects to ramp up the pace of its cafe expansion to 400 per year. In 2025, its North American footprint shrank by around 110 stores.

The company is offering current employees from impacted teams the option to relocate and will open additional positions in the market as well.

Nashville, due to its central location and access to multiple U.S. geographic regions, has emerged as a logistics hub in recent years. Amazon.com Inc. selected Nashville for its the site of a new fulfillment, transportation and supply chain center in2018, adding 5,000 jobs to the area at the time.

While Starbucks maintains Seattle will remain its North American headquarters, “the company will evaluate whether it makes sense to add additional teams and roles in Nashville over time,” according to the memo.
