So. Calif. Ports to Ban Trucks Older Than Model Year 2006

[Stay on top of transportation news: .]

Beginning Jan. 1, all trucks with engine year 2006 and older will be banned from marine terminals at the Ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach, port officials said.

Because there are no clean truck fees for trucks with 2007 and newer engines, the two ports will no longer be collecting the container fee.

With the drayage industry replacing vehicles much sooner than expected, the clean trucks program has reduced air pollution at the two ports by 80%, two years ahead of schedule, the ports said.
