Retail sales rose 1.2% in November, the Commerce Department said Thursday.

The increase, the most since May, followed a 0.2% increase in October. Sales excluding automobiles jumped 1.8%.

The increase double economists’ forecasts, Bloomberg reported.

Almost all trucking operations depend on the health of retail sales because such sales involve nearly every type of cargo.
