Like the truckers who recently took action in other countries, the National Owner Operator Trucking Association hopes its upcoming trucker convoy to the nation’s capital will force U.S. officials to hear their concerns.

“We need to show the government — both legislative and administrative branches — that we are out there, we care, they are killing our business and we will do something about it,” said NOOTA Executive Director Charles Hentz of the convoy.

Four convoys — starting in West Memphis, Ark., Deepwater, N.J., Columbus, Ohio, and Baltimore — will converge on Washington, D.C., on Nov. 2. The drivers will then rally across from the U.S. Capitol.

The Arkansas-to-D.C. convoy will also stop in Nashville or Knoxville, Tenn., to “make an initial statement,” Hentz said.
